Our Mission
Building Innovation Procurement Capabilities in Big Science – INPROCAP is an EU funded project under the Horizon Europe programme. Its mission is to escalate procurement of innovation within the Big Science sector.
INPROCAP will embed specialized advisory services on innovation procurement amongst the national Industrial Liaison Officers (ILOs) who collaborate with prominent Big Science Organisation (BSOs), such as e.g. CERN and EuXFEL.
BSOs are at the forefront of innovation and technological advancements in energy, health, materials science, environmental research, and information technology.
Our Goals

Inspire
INPROCAP motivates European start-ups and SMEs to participate in innovation procurement with Big Science facilities. Through campaigns, workshops, and events, we engage these businesses across four European hubs, each led by an ILO partner to ensure effective local outreach and communication.

Equip
INPROCAP empowers ILOs with the expertise and tools to enhance innovation procurement. By aligning their industry knowledge with the needs of Big Science Organizations, we ensure new solutions are developed and new partners engaged. This approach strengthens ILOs’ skills, driving innovation in the Big Science ecosystem.

Standardize
INPROCAP seeks to standardize innovation procurement in the Big Science market by establishing 10 consortia to co-design technological solutions. The project will create guidelines, training, and a community of practice, empowering the Big Science ecosystem with the skills to drive innovation and excellence.

What We Do
INPROCAP is creating a sustainable advisory platform for innovation procurement in the Big Science ecosystem. This involves establishing a knowledge baseline, based on previous projects and initiatives, developing industrial outreach channels, training companies, BSOs and innovation procurement advisors and identifying relevant procurement needs in the BSOs. Additionally, a Community of Practice (CoP) will share knowledge across seven countries (DK, NL, ES, PL, SK, DE, SE) and beyond to ensure that stakeholders share the knowledge of benefits of standard innovation procurement practices.
Outreach Activities
INPROCAP will stimulate innovation across Europe through strategic outreach activities organized into four dynamic geographical hubs. We will be speaking at events such as the BSBF2024 and 2026, where the full BigScience stakeholder community is gathered. We will engage with local and European start up environments and science hubs to maximize reach and expand our partners' networks within their local ecosystems. Each geographical hub is led by a national Industry Liaison Officer to ensure local anchoring. Together, we will drive impactful engagement and build the collaborative innovation procurement landscape across Europe.
